At Middleport Matters, we're passionate about creating a safe, welcoming and thriving neighbourhood. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to thrive - and we work to make that happen by building strong communities and improving the places we live in.

We're looking for an inspiring, proactive Community Support Team Leader to lead a team of staff and volunteers delivering personal development programmes, confidence-building support, and inclusive community activities.

About the Role

You'll lead and co-ordinate support programmes that empower local people - from volunteering and mentoring, to digital access, cooking sessions, befriending, and drop-in advice in partnership with other organisations. You'll work closely with individuals and groups, using strengths-based approaches to help them overcome barriers and build confidence, skills, and community connections.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver a Community Support Strategy. Plan and lead a range of support activities throughout the year. Provide tailored support to individuals and groups. Work with your team to develop tools for assessing individual needs and tracking progress. Collaborate with external partners such as Citizens Advice and Potteries Moneywise. Lead and manage a vibrant volunteer programme. Supervise and support your team, including regular 1:1s and appraisals. Cover staffing gaps and maintain continuity of service. Promote positive behaviour and inclusive community participation. Work closely with the Community Engagement and Development Teams on joint projects, budgets, and volunteer opportunities. Assist with fundraising, grant writing, and impact reporting. Capture data, feedback, and case studies to evidence project outcomes. Take the lead on safeguarding within your team. Promote collaborative working across the organisation and externally.

Key Experience & Skills:

Has experience in community or social work, staff supervision, and programme delivery. Is passionate about inclusion, empowerment, and neighbourhood improvement. Possesses excellent interpersonal, outreach and leadership skills. Can plan projects, interpret data, and write clear reports. Thinks creatively and acts with empathy. Understands safeguarding, health and safety, and volunteer management. Is confident with Microsoft Office and social media. Has Level 2 (or above) in English and Maths (e.g. GCSE, Functional Skills). Holds a degree (Level 5+) - desirable, not essential.
