To manage the delivery of barista training courses for Redemption Roasters across London, with programme participants successfully accessing employment in hospitality.
Introducing Redemption Roasters
Redemption Roasters has a clear mission: to reduce reoffending through coffee.
To achieve this, we deliver barista training to those with experience of the criminal justice system, both in prison and the community, with direct routes into employment in our 12 London coffee shops. Participants are matched with a caseworker to support their transition from the training room into work.
By providing paid employment, case work support, and on-going training, we create an environment that supports our programme participants to lead a positive life away from the Criminal Justice System.
Overview of the role
Redemption Roasters is looking to appoint a skilled and passionate Community Training Manager to coordinate and deliver barista training courses to recent prison leavers.
The training will be delivered from dedicated Redemption Roasters Training Hubs. All delivery will be to small groups of prison leavers (roughly six per cohort), with participants looking to learn a new skill that will help them to start a career in hospitality.
On completion of the training, the Community Training Manager will collaborate with a Redemption Roasters Case Worker to support interested participants into employment.
The successful applicant will be offered comprehensive on-boarding training, with opportunities to shadow experienced trainers.
Duties
Deliver a tried and tested 5-day Redemption Roasters barista training course. The training will include espresso preparation, milk steaming technique and pouring, alternative brewing methods, cleaning equipment, and basic grinder and machine maintenance.
Coordinate the on-boarding of new course participants and ensure courses are well attended. This will include liaising with referral partners.
Working closely with the Head of Impact, build new referral partnerships and manage the establishment of new training hubs and spaces as is needed.
Act as a positive role model for course participants and encourage participants to grow outside of their comfort zones whilst respecting professional boundaries.
Conduct basic skills assessments during the course, coordinate the completion of feedback forms, produce end of course reports and track learner journeys.
Working closely with a Case Worker, support interested participants into sustainable employment on their completion of the training.
Other ad-hoc tasks to support the smooth running of the wider Impact department at Redemption Roasters. For example, delivering additional training to participants employed in the 12 Redemption Roasters coffee shops.
