What you'll do
We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Worker to join our growing Community Worker team. Reporting to the Community Learning and Development Manager, you will provide support to the current FARE Scotland team during the delivery of the organisation's community learning and development programmes, including planning, preparation and delivery of all sessions and activities being provided for the community to participate in. As part of the role, you will provide support to all service users to access the support required by them through the provision of high-quality community engagement activities.
As part of your role, your main responsibilities will include:
Creating a safe and welcoming environment that encourages healthy lifestyles and positive community involvement.
Supporting the learning and development opportunities available across the community for our services users and partner organisations.
Enhancing the opportunities for young people and children from diverse communities to participate in fun, physical and educational activities.
Supporting the provision of structured physical activities and access to healthy, nutritious food to children, young people and the wider community during our programmes.
Supporting the ability of children and young people to access of nutritional food throughout the duration of the programme.
Supporting the delivery of tailored interventions to vulnerable young people, children and adults, providing assistance and engaging activities to guide their personal development and wellbeing.
Providing access to engaging and rewarding services and activities.
Supporting with the delivery of our StreetwYze schools and outreach programmes.
Supporting participants in the programme to achieve positive outcomes.
Delivering direct support to children, young people and the wider community that enables them to fully participate and flourish during all programmes.
Providing educational group work activities within formal and informal settings.
Ensuring that all work including programmes, interventions and support to individuals are effectively recorded and monitored.
Identifying achieved outcomes for the participants, the project and the organisation, contributing to the collation of information to support the production of high-quality reports and statistics.
Supporting the wider community team in the delivery of our services and programmes.
About you
The successful candidate for this role will have:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to challenge, in a constructive manner, negative attitudes.
Knowledge of community support and development and family support initiatives.
Experience of providing outcomes-focussed programmes to individuals excluded from mainstream society.
Experience of delivering community support and development programmes.
Experience of providing structured activities and sessions to children, young people and adults.
Experience of planning and implementing activities in a coordinated programme.
Experienced in implementing monitoring and evaluation processes.
Understanding of barriers and challenges faced by communities that hinder their ability to engage in community activities or programmes.
Relevant experience of working in the sector.
Educated to HNC/HND level with a qualification related to the community sector.
