What you do
The role reports to the UK Compliance Director and is part of the regional and global compliance team which actively supports and oversees the UK and Ireland business in managing its regulatory risk profile. Key responsibilities of this role include the following
Building, maintaining and progressively improving a UK compliance assurance program.
Providing an independent second line view of the systems, processes and controls in place to foster adherence with Allianz Partners UK and Ireland's regulatory obligations and relevant rules and procedures, with a strong focus on customer outcomes.
Close alignment with the global AzP Compliance Quality Assurance team.
Providing timely and considered assurance to the first line of defense on a range of general insurance topics, including, but not limited to: ICOBS, DISP, customers in vulnerable circumstances and Consumer Duty rules and principles.
Developing annual UK assurance plans, preparing local compliance reports, and communicating findings to senior management, in close alignment with the global AzP Compliance Quality Assurance team.
Partnering with other Compliance team members and first line colleagues to identify areas of high regulatory and conduct risk and supporting the continued evolution of a proportionate control environment so that UK key regulatory risks are appropriately managed.
Collaborating with other UK Control Functions (i.e. Legal, Risk, Internal Audit) for a unified UK compliance approach.
What you bring
The role requires a strategic approach, resilience, strong stakeholder management skills and solid experience of applying different compliance assurance methodologies, ideally in a general insurance setting. The following requirements are key to successfully executing the role:
Required Experience:
Specific experience of leading compliance assurance programs, ideally in a general insurance context.
5+ years of experience within a Compliance function.
Required Education:
A sound knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements and key conduct related priorities within insurance, especially DISP, ICOBS, vulnerability and Consumer Duty.
General skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to take complex points and communicate them in a simple, easily understood way.
Can independently manage a portfolio of work and balance the demands of maintaining high quality work and delivering to deadlines.
Pro-active, resilient and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
Functional skills:
Fully understands the concepts of risk, controls and materiality and can be proportionate when making decisions.
Quickly masters unfamiliar businesses, process or products; able to logically analyze and assess them.
Can challenge and raise points of view with senior individuals and maintain a position constructively.
People attributes:
Strong stakeholder management skills with a view to building successful and lasting relationships across all functions and lines of defense.
Empathy, including the ability to anticipate the impact of our activities for retail customers.
A professional approach and delivery of work product with a key focus on timely delivery of quality outputs.
