Stirling Dynamics is recruiting a Compliance Officer to join the team.
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards.
This role involves monitoring and evaluating compliance issues, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and providing guidance to management and staff to mitigate risk and promote a culture of integrity.

The following describes the general responsibilities:Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance programs
Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability
Investigate and resolve compliance issues and concerns
Provide training to employees on compliance-related topics
Stay up to date with regulatory changes and industry best practices
Liaise with regulatory bodies and respond to inquiries or investigations
Prepare and submit compliance reports to senior management
Support internal departments in understanding and adhering to compliance requirements
Maintain records of compliance activities, including investigations and outcomes
Maintain accurate documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting
This role will be based in our Bristol offices with occasional travel to our clients' sites as required. As part of our commitment to flexibility, we also accept hybrid working.
Responsibilities:
This will be a varied role covering all aspects of compliance, however the core areas will be:
Business Compliance
Legal Register (updates and compliance assessments currently outsourced)
Responsible for Health & Safety within the business, develop and maintain the policies while also ensuring adherence to legal requirements
Assess and approve risk assessments
Accident & incident reporting
Product Compliance
Assessing the applicability of new regulations/standards with input from technical specialists (internal/external)
Conformance of company produced product to the applicable legislation/regulations (e.g. CE marking, REACH, RoSH, Conflict Minerals etc.)
Export Control
Monitor adherence to international trade compliance laws, including ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)
Assessing new regulations for both UK and USA export controls
UK licensing process: OGEL / SIEL / OIEL and use of government portals SPIRE and LITE
USA licensing process: TAA / MLA / Sublicence NDA
Managing technical export control assessments through the company process (with technical expert inputs as required)
Maintaining records for both technology and hardware exports to support external audits from the UK Government

Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant compliance role within the defense/aerospace industry or a relevant industry sector. It is recognised that applicants are unlikely to have experience in all three core areas, the priority is on product compliance with flexibility to learn/train in Business Compliance and/or Export Control. We will provide training and support in the areas you lack experience in so please still submit an application if you are interested in the role.
Fully conversant with the mainstream MS tool suite.
