We are looking for a compliance generalist to join the small specialist compliance team based in Newbury, Berkshire. The team provides support, advice, and guidance to all 34 offices to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations including RICS regulations, data protection and FCA compliance.

You will be working with the business to identify areas of compliance vulnerability and/or commercial risk and helping to maintain the firm\xe2\x80\x99s risk register. This is a high-profile role with significant interaction across the business and will require strong interpersonal and communication and skills.

This is a full-time position, but part time or flexible working could be considered for someone with the relevant experience. The team currently works from the office 3 days per week but initially the job will be entirely office based. Key tasks:

  • Provide assistance, support, and advice on general compliance issues to all Offices.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing and maintaining compliance policies, procedures and processes to ensure that the systems and controls framework is adequate and up to date.
  • Collaborate with other key departments (e.g., IT, HR, Health & Safety etc) on compliance and risk issues to develop processes and procedures.
  • Undertake desktop audits to monitor compliance with business operating procedures and prepare appropriate reports for the business.
  • Visit offices in person to assist in completing ISO27001 audits and to undertake data protection audits.
  • Audit suppliers to ensure compliance with data protection obligations.
  • Maintaining the risk register and proactively monitoring the management of risks throughout the business.
  • Assisting in the creation and coordination of documentation to support business continuity planning.
  • Working with IT and the Quality team to manage the supplier database.
  • Assisting with all aspects of GDPR compliance including audits, preparing responses to subject access requests etc.

What will it take to be successful?

You will be a self-starter with a proven track record in a compliance focussed role, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. You will have gained experience in a professional services compliance role, such as property, legal, financial service or similar. It would be advantageous for you to have previous experience in audit, supplier management, data privacy or business continuity planning.

You will be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and methodical approach to auditing and reporting. It is crucial to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. Fully computer literate with a thorough understanding of MS Office programmes including Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the willingness to lean new applications and systems.

Ideally you will be educated to degree level or equivalent, and/or possess an IT or compliance related qualification. Flexibility and a \xe2\x80\x9ccan do\xe2\x80\x9d attitude is essential. Hours Full-time
