Role Summary
The Compliance & Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in upholding the integrity and excellence of operations at TMS. Responsible for ensuring that all activities comply with applicable regulations, standards, and internal policies, this role safeguards the organisation's reputation and operational effectiveness. The Compliance & Quality Manager develops, implements, and monitors robust quality systems and compliance frameworks, supporting continuous improvement across the business. Working closely with leaders and teams, this role fosters a culture of accountability, transparency, and quality, while aligning processes with the company's strategic objectives and regulatory obligations.
Job Purpose:
The Compliance and Quality Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the HSE Director and QHS & EP Manager in maintaining and enhancing the company's compliance and quality management systems. The postholder will contribute to the effective delivery of internal and external audits, supply chain evaluations, carbon management systems and quality assurance processes across the organisation. They will ensure that business operations continue to meet regulatory, legal, and customer standards, while upholding ISO management systems and broader QHSE objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the QHS & EP Manager and HSE Director in the planning, execution, and follow-up of internal and external audits.
Maintain and develop quality and compliance documentation in line with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
Coordinate the collation and response process, including assessment and audit of suppliers and client questionnaires and due diligence forms. Also to develop a system that is freely accessible to all management.
Assist in the administration and delivery of online audits and site-based QHSE inspections.
Monitor and review compliance across business units, identifying areas for continuous improvement. (KPI's)
Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure compliance standards are consistently met.
Support the maintenance and continual improvement of the company's Integrated Management System (IMS).
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and corrective/preventative action processes.
Assist in the delivery of training and awareness programmes related to compliance and quality standards.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and ISO standard developments.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Essential:
Degree-level education or strong equivalent
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a compliance and quality management role.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working within ISO frameworks (particularly ISO 9001; knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 advantageous).
Understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and H&S systems.
Experience supporting audit processes and managing documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in Carbon Management systems, processes and online portals.
Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office and online audit management tools.
Desirable:
Degree level or equivalent in Quality/Compliance Management
Carbon Management Experience / Knowledge
Experience within a high-risk or technical industry sector (e.g. marine, construction, or energy).
Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 or other standards).
NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualification.
