We have an exciting opportunity to join the Lockheed Martin team in Havant, Hampshire as a Compliance Verification Engineer.

You will work mainly within the engineering team on Airborne Mission Systems, with particular focus on Merlin, a programme which Lockheed Martin has been involved with for around 30 years. In addition, you will have opportunities to work both on our existing portfolio of programmes and future capabilities, which we want you to help shape.

You will work in a hybrid environment - home based, in the Havant offices and also in our customer sites in Crawley and Yeovil. This would really suit you if you have a background in Aerospace compliance verification, or other highly regulated industries such as Automotive.



You will experience a wide range of engineering activities including:Performing Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) function iaw RA5850, MAA/RN/2020/17 and Lockheed Martin Design Organisation Exposition (DOE). Working to the Military Air System Certification Process (MACP): + Reviewing and approving the classification of a change to determine the approval and assurance route to be followed, by independent review of the DAT Form 30 or equivalent
+ Independent reviewing and approval of certification artefacts Type Certification Basis (TCB), Certification Programme (CP) and Type Certification Expositions (TCE) and iaw RA5820 and the Manual of Military Air System Certification (MMAC)
+ Reviewing submissions for compliance to certification specifications such as Def Stan 00-970 or EASA CS
+ Review and assess non compliances (NC) against certification specifications and review Equivalent Level of Safety (ELoS) arguments to gain acceptance of NC.
+ Independent review and approval of Military Certification Review Items (MCRI).
Reviewing, advising and approving system test plans, acceptance test documentation and qualification evidence. Managing your time and the teams time effectively to develop effective solutions to cost and quality targets. Working with suppliers and customer authorities to approve and review airworthiness documents and evidence submissions. Providing technical input to programme management and commercial. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients and suppliers across all levels of the organisation both internally and with the customer.

Required skills, qualifications and experience




Extensive understanding and experience of certification regulations. Experience of compliance verification within aerospace or a similar highly regulated industry. Has worked as a technical authority role or similar regulatory role. Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience. The ability to make supportable airworthiness and safety decisions, on occasions with limited information. In-depth knowledge of air systems design and construction. Understanding of Test and Qualification procedures and practices, especially with regard to requirement sell off. Solid understanding of requirements definition and interface documentation required to support the development and acceptance of solutions. Strong communication skills, and the ability to write in a clear and concise manner. The ability to manage tasks and priorities to ensure that assigned workload is delivered when required. Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences on sometimes complex issues, topics and engineering principles and practices.


Desired skills, qualifications and experience

Experience as a Tech lead or similar position. Completed Airworthiness of Military Aircraft Fundamentals (AMAC-F) or Practitioner (AMAC-P) course. Degree in Engineering or other STEM subjects.
