We are seeking a permanent skilled Composite Laminator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong composite knowledge and the ability to laminate various component of complexity across multiple disciplines. The Laminator will play a crucial role in ensuring that all components meet quality standards and specification.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications to understand the lamination requirements for composite components and tooling.
Prepare moulds for lamination by cleaning, applying release agents, and ensuring proper surface preparation in accordance with Atlas standard processes.
Lay-up materials supplied in kit form (prepregs, film adhesives, core materials) according to specified instruction.
Hand cut materials to specified templates ensuring the correct fibre orientation and material traceability is maintained.
Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Follow defined lamination processes and procedures to achieve desired thickness, fibre orientation, and overall quality of the composite components.
Apply vacuum bags to moulds/patterns using the required consumables as per Atlas instructions.
Produce vacuum bags that are free from leaks (following leak check) ensuring all consumables used are tailored to reduce the risk of bridging and/or bag burst.
Conduct visual inspections to verify the quality of lamination and identify any defects or imperfections.
Collaborate with the Laminating Section Team Lead and Engineering team to address any lamination challenges, provide input on process improvements, and contribute to the overall success of the department.
Document and maintain accurate records of lamination activities, including any issues or deviations encountered.
Any other duties as reasonably required.
Continuously update and expand knowledge of composite materials, laminating techniques, and industry best practices.
Skills
& Experience
Previous experience of at least 2 years within Laminating working on Aerospace, Automotive, Motorsport parts.
Proficient working with pre-preg composite materials.
Strong working knowledge of composite lamination techniques and processes.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
Team player with strong communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
