Job Description

We are looking for a keen and collaborative postdoctoral with a background in computational biology or bioinformatics to join an exciting new joint project between the UCL institute and HSL Pathology Ltd.
This is a unique chance to work on T-Cell lymphomas, using spatial transcriptomics to explore tumour biology in unprecedented detail. You will be based the Halo Building in the heart of the Kings Cross Knowledge Quarter, working alongside HSL specialised Laboratory scientists and UCL research team led by Professor Tariq Enver, Dr Rajeev Gupta and Dr Sam Marguerat.
Whats the project about?
This role focuses on understanding the biology of T-Cell using spatial transcriptomics and high dimensional data. You will:

  • Generating and analysing large spatial transcriptomics datasets from clinical samples.
  • Collaborate with laboratory scientists to bring together computational and experimental data.
  • Carry out meta- analysis of flow cytometry datasets across a broader patient cohort.
  • Contribute to identifying new biomarkers and exploring spatial tech in diagnostics.
Main duties of the job
Who are we looking for?
  • A PhD (or nearly there) in computational biology, bioinformatics or related field.
  • Candidates with a theoretical background in physics or mathematics are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with either Spatial transcriptomics or scRNAseq data analysis.
  • Solid coding skills in R, Bash and Perl or Python.
  • A collaborative mindset happy working across clinical and academic settings.

Main Duties: To include, but not be restricted to, the following duties: 1. Contribute in all phases of the project lifecycle, from study design to publication. 2. Plan, develop and carry out original research. 3. To conduct data analysis ensuring its validity and reliability of data at all times. 4. To handle confidential data responsibly and ensure that confidentiality is maintain when applicable. 5. To have good awareness of the Human Tissue Act and to work according to it. 6. To maintain accurate and complete records of all findings. 7. Keep abreast of relevant literature and methodology developments relevant to the field. 8. Work collaboratively. 9. Communicate with both HSL and UCL and other group members on a regular basis to discuss projects updates. 10.Attend regular laboratory meetings and interact collaboratively with other scientific staff. 11. Attend appropriate scientific seminars, meetings, conferences and relevant training opportunities. 12. Participate in the activities of the group and department, contributing scientific ideas and innovative solutions. 13. To develop contacts and research collaborations within the institute and research fields. 14. Provide guidance as required to support staff and any students who may be assisting with research. 15. To help prepare and submit grants to appropriate funders. 16.
