Job Purpose:



To deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Computer Science and Data Science at A-Level and equivalent post-16 qualifications. The post holder will be expected to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that support all students to achieve their full academic potential while fostering an interest in computing, programming, and data literacy.

Key Responsibilities:



Plan, prepare and deliver stimulating lessons in

Computer Science and Data Science

across the Sixth Form curriculum (A-Level and/or BTEC). Design and implement schemes of work in line with awarding body specifications and college standards. Monitor, assess, and report on students' progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents/guardians. Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including mock and final examinations. Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Use technology and digital tools to enhance learning and engagement. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievement, and progress. Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and CPD (Continuing Professional Development). Support the wider college community, including involvement in events, open days, and enrichment activities. Ensure safeguarding and pastoral care principles are upheld at all times.

Person Specification:



A relevant degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification. Proven experience teaching Computer Science at post-16 level in the UK or a comparable system. Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL). Up-to-date knowledge of A-Level Computer Science and Data Science curriculum and exam boards (e.g., AQA, OCR). Strong classroom management skills, proficiency in one or more programming languages. Commitment to student success and personal development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the

legal right to work and teach in the UK

. Possession of an

enhanced DBS certificate

or willingness to undergo one prior to appointment.
