Job Description

Join a forward-thinking & hi-tech defence company based in North Bristol as a Configuration Controller supporting complex engineering projects that directly contribute to national security and defence.
In this role, you'll ensure engineering data, hardware, software and documentation are accurately tracked, controlled, and updated in line with Configuration Management standards, industry best practices, and compliance requirements. You'll work across cross-functional teams and act as the guardian of change and configuration integrity.


Key Responsibilities:



Maintain accurate configuration data: Ensure all configuration item records are up to date and reliable to support project audits, reporting, and decision-making. Manage CM processes: Enforce configuration control processes across engineering teams, ensuring that all changes are reviewed, approved, and traceable. Baseline engineering standards: Define and capture hardware and software build standards to establish clear baselines and ensure product integrity. Control engineering documentation: Ensure all project documentation is correctly versioned and under configuration control to support quality and delivery objectives. Change control management: Prepare, track, and coordinate engineering change requests, and maintain visibility of product evolution through robust tracking systems. Lead CCB meetings: Facilitate Change Control Board (CCB) sessions, collaborating with stakeholders to document and implement decisions that affect design or delivery. Provide CM reporting: Deliver accurate configuration and change status reports to project and functional leadership to support planning and delivery performance. Support project bids: Assist with CM planning for proposals and bids, ensuring customer confidence through demonstrable control and governance.

What You'll Need:



Proven experience in a configuration or change control role, ideally in a multi-disciplinary engineering or defence environment Understanding of PLM tools, Siemens Teamcenter preferred but not essential Strong documentation control and versioning skills Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement ability Ability to manage complex configuration data across multiple systems
