company that provides a full turnkey solution, from planning, architects, structural engineers, building control and the build, leaving clients to focus on their day jobs while we do ours. We are actively seeking a proactive, outgoing and motivated Buyer/Procurement Executive within

construction

to join our team. Builders merchant or construction procurement experience a must.

Role:

Providing prices for all materials included in project plans and drawings. Providing prices for and procuring construction plant and equipment for purchase and hire. Identifying potential suppliers and new products. Contacting a range of suppliers to obtain quotations and agree delivery times. Keeping detailed records and maintaining a well?organised work schedule. Assessing the reliability of suppliers. Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials. Negotiating and agreeing the most favorable terms possible with suppliers once a contract has been secured. Calculating quantities for material working off project drawings Identifying and assessing potential suppliers and products. Maintaining detailed records such as tracking documents and purchasing databases. Plan, schedule and forecast procurement activities Purchase general and specialized equipment, materials and subcontractor services for construction projects Review plans, specifications and contracts to ensure the correct equipment, material and subcontractor services are ordered and/or purchased Ensuring the flow of materials to maximise efficiency.

Responsibility

Negotiation skills are necessary for agreeing prices and terms with suppliers. Good knowledge of construction and understanding materials Good communication and organisational skills. IT literate with experience of using costing/ordering software. Min 3 years experience in a similar role at a sub-contractor business. Sound understanding of construction plant and equipment. Sound understanding of construction and civils materials.

Builders merchant or construction procurement a must Able to build good relationships with all kinds of people Persuasive Willing to make decisions and take responsibility for them Well organised, self?reliant and motivated Well spoken, confident, assertive - outstanding verbal and written communication skills Organised, efficient Strong administration skills Competent user of Excel Very focussed and diligent, high level of attention to detail Highly persistent when dealing with suppliers whilst maintaining the positive relationships Ability to work well under pressure Motivated and able to work under own initiative Good level of education, preferably A Level Standard, excellent level of Maths and English Understanding of construction materials, technical drawings or Bill of Materials is a strong advantage Experience in a purchasing role is desirable but not necessary
