construction
to join our team. Builders merchant or construction procurement experience a must.
Role:
Providing prices for all materials included in project plans and drawings.
Providing prices for and procuring construction plant and equipment for purchase and hire.
Identifying potential suppliers and new products.
Contacting a range of suppliers to obtain quotations and agree delivery times.
Keeping detailed records and maintaining a well?organised work schedule.
Assessing the reliability of suppliers.
Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials.
Negotiating and agreeing the most favorable terms possible with suppliers once a contract has been secured.
Calculating quantities for material working off project drawings
Identifying and assessing potential suppliers and products.
Maintaining detailed records such as tracking documents and purchasing databases.
Plan, schedule and forecast procurement activities
Purchase general and specialized equipment, materials and subcontractor services for construction projects
Review plans, specifications and contracts to ensure the correct equipment, material and subcontractor services are ordered and/or purchased
Ensuring the flow of materials to maximise efficiency.
Responsibility
Negotiation skills are necessary for agreeing prices and terms with suppliers.
Good knowledge of construction and understanding materials
Good communication and organisational skills.
IT literate with experience of using costing/ordering software.
Min 3 years experience in a similar role at a sub-contractor business.
Sound understanding of construction plant and equipment.
Sound understanding of construction and civils materials.

Experience in a purchasing role is desirable but not necessary
