Have you ever thought about getting into Education and passing on some of your knowledge?
Milton Keynes College are looking for individuals with first-hand knowledge and experience in Construction and/or Carpentry to provide support to our learners at HMP Fosse Way. You will support the smooth running of the Vocational workshops and maintain the workshops' inventory, as well as providing general and practical support to both learners, teachers and the wider education team. The Vocational workshops at HMP Fosse Way currently deliver Warehousing, Carpentry, Plastering, Bricklaying and Painting & Decorating, all in purpose-built workshops. This role could involve work across any/all of these areas - it would therefore be beneficial, but not essential, that the successful candidate is Forklift qualified.
We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and hardworking individuals who enjoy contributing to and working as part of a team. You will play a key role in the correct and appropriate use of equipment and resources used as well as support and guide learners with their practical and theory work. Learners will benefit from your invaluable hands-on experience and gain the knowledge they need to enter the sector, all within an industry standard environment. You will work closely with Teaching staff - many of the learners have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, they will often have had a negative experience with education, in this role you have a unique opportunity to impact and shape their perception of education.
We are keen to hear from candidates with experience from the any/all the above trades/industries, who are interested in starting a career within education - no education/teaching specific qualifications required - we can provide the training to help you achieve your full potential, just as we expect you to be able to help our learners achieve theirs. The working pattern for this part time role is not yet confirmed - so there could be a degree of flexibility to make this work for the successful candidate. Hours would fall within Mon-Fri 8:10-16:40 as those are the hours of the education department.
