Amspec Limited in Wigan have grown over the last 23 years into one of the most capable and exciting Design & Build enterprises in the Northwest, currently operating in 4 key sectors:

Commercial and Industrial Retail and Leisure Public Sector Specialist and Bespoke (our Specialist and Bespoke service involves the Design and Manufacture of fitted and loose Joinery products).
We currently have a fantastic opportunity to add to our busy Commercial Team by way of recruiting an Experienced or Trainee Estimator.

For both positions we expect you to have some Construction / Interiors Sector experience, working on projects of varying values.

Having either gained / in the process of, or interested in achieving a qualification in Construction & The Built Environment or similar Construction related degree.

The successful candidate's role will include producing high quality, accurate estimates, presented in a legible, analytical and logical format. You will also be responsible for processing tenders, reviewing tenders within the team prior to submission, identifying risks, acquiring prices from our pool of sub-contractors, preparing accurate take offs.

Amspec work with specific estimating software, and knowledge of Evaluate or something similar would be beneficial, although full training will be given.

Further duties in your role will consist of;

Manage all aspects of Bid Preparation, Preparation of Enquiries to Sub-Contractors, Cost Comparisons, Bid Strategies, a deep understanding of our sector.

Organising and attending site visits with Clients and Sub-contractors

Client liaison (attend Client progress meetings to keep abreast of any commercial issues)

Ability to work on multiple tenders in a busy environment

Adaptable and able to quickly learn our Software - Eque2 / Evaluate

MS Project proficient would be an advantage

Undertake Client Tender Presentations

Technical knowledge of the construction methods being applied to tenders

You will be required to attend sites to carry out surveys, so a full UK driving licence is essential. You must have an excellent level of computer literacy (in particular with all Microsoft packages - Word, Excel) and a common-sense approach to information sourcing and problem solving.

The ideal candidate will be a hard-working individual with excellent communication skills. The Estimating role is client and customer facing so a confident attitude is required as there may be times presentations are required.

This is a full-time permanent position to commence asap. Monday to Friday typically worked between 07.30am - 5.00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (these hours are flexible if required).
