Construction Lawyer

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Job Description

Construction Solicitor (Contentious or Non-Contentious) - 4-8 PQE - Leading International Firm - Birmingham/Hybrid BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting a prestigious international firm looking to expand its renowned construction team in Birmingham by recruiting a talented Construction Solicitor at the 4-8 PQE level. The firm is open to both contentious and non-contentious construction lawyers, and unusually for a firm of this size, they can offer a split caseload if preferred, allowing you to handle a mix of both types of work, or the flexibility to focus entirely on either disputes or non-contentious matters. The work is complex, high-quality, and spans local, national, and international construction, engineering, and infrastructure projects. The firm offers a flexible working environment, along with a highly competitive salary and bonus package. The Role As a Construction Solicitor in this forward-thinking team, depending on preference, your responsibilities could include: Advising on all standard forms of UK contracts, including NEC4, JCT, as well as international contracts such as FIDIC and bespoke EPC contracts. Managing and developing client relationships across a range of sectors, including energy, waste management, infrastructure, real estate regeneration, and development. Construction disputes to include all forms of dispute resolution; litigation arbitration (including international arbitration) adjudication and ADR. Engaging in business development, networking, and identifying opportunities to contribute to the team's growth. Unusually for a firm of this size, the firm offers the flexibility to focus solely on non-contentious construction law, solely on contentious disputes, or to handle a split caseload that combines both. Candidate Requirements To be successful in your application for this Construction Solicitor position, you will ideally have: 4-8 years' PQE in construction law, with a focus on either non-contentious or contentious construction matters, from a reputable regional, national, or international law firm or industry experience. Strong technical knowledge and expertise in construction law, with a proven ability to advise on complex matters. Experience in international projects is highly desirable. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues. Experience in mentoring junior lawyers and fostering a collaborative team environment. A commercially focused and proactive approach to business development, with the ability to build your own network of contacts. A strong drive to deliver high-quality work and contribute to the continued success of the firm. Benefits The successful Construction Solicitor will enjoy: A highly competitive salary, bonus, and comprehensive benefits package. Exposure to high-quality work, including major national and international projects and disputes, with excellent opportunities for career progression. A flexible working environment that promotes work-life balance, including the option to work remotely. The ability to shape your caseload according to your interests, whether in a split role or by focusing exclusively on disputes or non-contentious matters. Apply Now!
