Job Description

BakerHicks is looking to hire a site-based Construction Manager, based at our client's facility in Grangemouth, to oversee and coordinate construction activities related to the delivery of an EPCM project.


This role supports and reports directly to the Project Manager and will involve working closely with subcontractors and other stakeholders, ensuring individuals are put to work safely.




The Construction Manager will ensure that the project is executed efficiently, safely, complying with industry standards and client specifications. The role will involve managing on-site construction teams, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and ensuring timely project delivery within budget.

Proven ability to plan, manage and control both preconstruction activities and construction activities. Knowledge of industry best practice. Successful track record. Ability to organise, make decisions and work with people. Direct management of construction activities and workers. Ability to build relationships with stakeholders. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project delivery. Representing the Principal Contractor to enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations on site to minimise the risk of accidents and injuries. Organize safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement appropriate controls. Document all construction activities, including daily reports, inspection records, change orders, and as-built drawings for project documentation and closeout. Provide CS&A construction management, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. Provide technical expertise and guidance on civil, structural, and architectural engineering and installation aspects. Conduct assessments and audits to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and documentation. Foster a culture of safety, excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement during the lifecycle of the project. Implement quality control measures to ensure that construction work meets or exceeds industry standards and client requirements. Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality of plant, materials, workmanship, and installations. Address any non-conformances or deficiencies identified during construction and work with subcontractors to implement corrective actions.



Requirements





Essential


Bachelor's degree/HND/HNC in civil engineering, advantageous or equivalent NVQ (L6) Recognised professional certification in construction site supervision. CSCS/CCSNG card. Significant experience in construction management on complex industrial projects- ideally pharmaceutical sector.

Desirable


Competent TWC (Temporary Works Coordinator) Familiarity with the use of EDMS (Viewpoint) is advantageous.
