We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fitter to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, servicing, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment in accordance with technical specifications and safety standards. The machinery is predominantly geotechnical drilling rigs but extends to vehicles, trailers and other construction equipment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions promptly.
Read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and engineering drawings accurately.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications performed on equipment.
Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Fitter or in a similar mechanical assembly role.
Willing to work from our yard (NR21 7AW) or attend sites throughout the UK to respond to breakdowns and servicing of field equipment.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and measurement instruments.
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics with precision.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting issues.
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field are desirable but not essential.
