Role: Construction Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
Salary: 90 - 120 per day
Contract: Full Time, Temporary to Permanent
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and practical Construction Teaching Assistant to support a Post-16 provision in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on construction experience who is passionate about helping young learners develop their skills and confidence within a vocational setting.
Job Summary of a Construction Teaching Assistant:

• Support the delivery of Construction lessons for post-16 learners under the direction of the class tutor.
• Assist students working toward Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications, providing guidance and encouragement.
• Help set up, maintain, and organise workshop tools, equipment, and materials.
• Offer practical support in areas such as bricklaying, plastering, painting, decorating, and DT tasks.
• Promote safe working practices, ensuring health and safety procedures are consistently followed.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment.

Requirements to be a Construction Teaching Assistant:

• Experience within the construction sector (bricklaying, plastering, painting, or DT desirable).
• A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to demonstrate tools and techniques.
• Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
• Passion for supporting and motivating young learners.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
