This post is in general adult and paediatric dermatology. The post holder will be a core member of the skin oncology MDT. There is a requirement to join the weekly on-call rota for ward referrals and urgent A&E/GP queries, which operates 0900-1700 Monday-Friday. There is no out of hours on-call commitment.
This new post will have secretarial and multidisciplinary team support.
The new post will have a commitment to 3 clinical sessions including general adult/paediatric dermatology, skin cancer outpatient clinic, MDT skin oncology meeting, 1 minor operation session, 1 teledermatology session, 1 session for ward round / hospital in patient referrals, 1 session for clinical administration and 0.5 session for development of a special interest clinic/ service lead for particular area of interest, to be decided dependent on the postholder's interests and experience and to be mutually agreed as part of the departments overall strategy. 1.5 sessions are provided for supporting activities, including continuous professional development, audit, educational activities and research.
Provision of a Dermatology Service for outpatients, day-cases, in-patients, ward referrals, and relevant surgical procedures.
Education, training and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff, nurses, paramedics, general practitioners.
Administrative duties to ensure the proper functioning of the department.
Provision of cover for colleagues' periods of leave.
Participation in medical audit, clinical governance, research and continuing professional development relating to dermatology.
Management and supervision of medical, nursing and other professional staff within the Dermatology multidisciplinary care team.
Attendance at Directorate, District and Regional meetings, as required, to represent the interests of the speciality and the department.
Participation in the Dermatology on-call rota and prospective cross cover with colleagues for such.
Contribute to the development of dermatology services, treatment guidelines and the promotion of greater knowledge of the management of dermatological conditions in primary care.
Provide a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the Trust and to general practitioners
