This role can be based from either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office.
LUC is seeking a passionate and ambitious Consultant Landscape Architect to join our friendly, award-winning Design Team in Scotland. The successful individual will preferably be based in Glasgow. However, individuals based in Edinburgh will also be considered if they are willing to travel to Glasgow as/when required (funded by LUC).
This exciting opportunity will be based within, and supported by, our existing landscape design teams with the opportunity to work with colleagues in other disciplines, such as ecologists, landscape managers, planners, and more.
Many of our projects are multidisciplinary which means the role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects. Some of our current projects include:
University campus projects
Community green spaces and parks
Residential master plans
Historic designed landscapes, parks and gardens
Brownfield regeneration
Town centre public realm enhancement schemes
Visitor infrastructure in rural locations.
Active travel projects
Schools, hospitals and commercial developments.
The role will offer the exciting opportunity to explore Scotland. In addition to many projects located in the Central Belt LUC is involved in projects throughout the Highlands and Islands as well as Scottish Borders.
Some examples of previous and ongoing work are University of Glasgow Western Campus Public Realm Project, Glasgow Claypits Inner City Nature Reserve, Visitor Infrastructure projects at Loch Lomond, Lews Castle Grounds Restoration (Stornoway), The Knab mixed Used Development (Shetland) and Edinburgh Bioquarter. The role includes the opportunity to share and participate actively in the management and ownership of the business through the Employee Ownership Trust, which places full ownership of the company with the employees.

Salary: 24,575 - 32,500 FTE (Dependent on experience).

Experience and qualifications
The successful candidate will play a critical role within project teams offering support to Project Managers and Project Directors. They will be involved in all stages of project development from site appraisal, concept design development and the preparation of technical detail. The preparation of graphic and drawing outputs will be a key responsibility. There will also be the opportunity to undertake site inspections during construction and attend client / team meetings when appropriate.
The candidate will be supervised and guided by more experienced members of the team, allowing the continued development of skills, knowledge and confidence. There will also be the opportunity to support wider marketing and promotional activities.
The successful candidate will have an enthusiasm for the profession. They will be able to demonstrate creative design flair, and a rigorous and thoughtful approach to project work. They will have strong graphic, oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn quickly under the guidance of more senior members of the team.
Essential
Educated with a relevant Landscape Architecture qualification at degree or post graduate level (Or a blend of knowledge and qualifications reflecting a similar level of expertise).
Skills and competency in graphic software packages particularly including use of the full Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD.
A passion for delivering projects that make a difference - both to people and to the environment.
Enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard, learn and develop, and take on new challenges.
Team working ethic and willingness to support and learn from senior team members.
Desirable
Experience of working in a professional office environment in Scotland / UK.
Keen to begin their Pathway to Chartership/become a fully chartered member of the Landscape Institute or may have recently achieved CMLI status.
Understanding of BIM standards and use of Revit software and / or other 3d modelling software.
Strong hand drawing skills.
UK Driving Licence.
