ROLE PURPOSE:
The Control Room Supervisor will join the weekend team working Saturday & Sundays 0600-1800. Based in our busy Control Room, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of operations during your shifts.
In this key role, you'll oversee the delivery of the MacRail service, maintaining high standards of customer service and ensuring quality assurance at every stage. You'll play a vital part in upholding the integrity and performance of our worksite support services.
Additionally, you will take direct responsibility for supervising client sites where Control Room services have been ordered. This includes maintaining regular contact with those sites and gathering sufficient information to generate timely and accurate email updates, as required by both Network Rail and our clients.
As the main point of contact, you'll be expected to resolve site-related issues effectively--working closely with client managers and third parties to find solutions when performance falls short of expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the smooth operation of weekend Control Room shifts (Saturday & Sunday, 06:00-18:00).
Liaise with managers, I.T., and clients to ensure operational readiness ahead of each weekend.
Supervise client sites where Control Room services are in place, maintaining regular contact and gathering accurate information for updates and reports.
Monitor live site activity to identify delays, deviations from plan, or threats to possession handback times--taking immediate corrective action in collaboration with clients.
Escalate performance issues appropriately to the Operations Manager.
Act as the main point of contact for resolving site-related issues, working closely with client managers and third parties.
Generate and distribute timely, accurate reports as required by Network Rail, clients, third parties (where authorised), and the MacRail management team.
Provide first-line IT support to SACs and Control Room staff.
Ensure all work progress, incidents, and site activity are accurately recorded on Worksite 360, using site diaries, schedules, and system reports.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of site communications and actions taken.
Notify the Client On-Call immediately in the event of any accidents, incidents, or potential overruns.
Follow up on all site issues and failures to ensure resolution and learning.
Prepare detailed handover reports for the incoming Control Room Supervisor and contribute feedback for weekly wash-up meetings.
Foster strong working relationships with SACs and Control Room colleagues.
Attend quarterly Control Room Supervisor meetings and contribute to ongoing operational improvements.
