I am delighted to announce an exciting new
role within our highly respected Contentious Probate department
at Slater Heelis.
This role will typically focus on managing
and resolving disputes arising from the administration and
distribution of deceased estates. It will involve advising
clients on wills, probate, and Inheritance Act claims, often
representing executors, beneficiaries and trustees in court
proceedings. An overview of the role is outlined below:
Managing a caseload of contentious probate matters: This includes advising clients, preparing legal documents and representing them in court
Working with clients: This may include executors, beneficiaries, trustees, and other parties involved in estate disputes
Providing expert advice: This involves understanding the complexities of wills, probate, and Inheritance Act claims, and advising clients on their options
Negotiating and litigating: This may involve pre-action protocols, mediation, and court proceedings to resolve disputes
Researching and preparing legal documents: This includes drafting correspondence, witness statements, and court pleadings
Legal knowledge: Strong understanding of wills, probate, trusts and estate administration
Litigation experience: Experience in managing and resolving disputes, particularly in contentious probate matters
Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively advise clients and negotiate with opposing parties
Case management skills: Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and keep track of deadlines and court dates
Analytical skills: Ability to handle complex legal issues and develop sound legal arguments
Teamwork skills: Ability to work collaboratively with other lawyers and support staff
Additional skills and qualifications: Client focus: Ability to build strong relationships with clients and understand their needs
Organisational skills: Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
