ALTEN Ltd is looking for an experienced

Continuous Improvement Specialist

to join our expanding aerospace team in Derby. Working on high-impact programmes that drive operational excellence across manufacturing and maintenance environments, you'll lead initiatives that enhance

quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness

. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking engineer with a passion for

continuous improvement, Lean transformation, and process optimisation

within complex aerospace systems.

Must hold full right to work in the UK, potential to be BPSS cleared.


Key Responsibilities

Analyse

production, maintenance, and engineering processes

using

Lean tools, time studies, and root cause analysis

to identify and remove inefficiencies. Lead

cross-functional improvement projects

applying

Six Sigma, Lean, and DMAIC methodologies

to deliver measurable performance gains. Facilitate

Kaizen events

,

value stream mapping

, and

process reviews

to promote collaboration and problem-solving across departments. Develop and implement

standardised work

,

visual management systems

, and

5S

principles across manufacturing and MRO operations. Collaborate with

Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain

to embed process improvements into design and production lifecycles. Monitor and report

KPIs

, quantifying improvements in cost, cycle time, and quality performance. Support the deployment of

digital tools and automation

to streamline operations and enable

Industry 4.0

readiness. Ensure all improvement initiatives comply with

aerospace standards

such as

AS9100

,

EASA Part 145

, or

NADCAP

.


Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience Required:



Degree

in

Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering

, or any related discipline. Proven background in

process improvement

or

continuous improvement

within

aerospace or high-precision manufacturing

environments. Strong understanding of

Lean

and

Six Sigma

methodologies (

Green Belt or Black Belt preferred

). Familiarity with

AS9100

,

ISO 9001

, and

EASA/FAA regulations

. Proficiency in

data analysis tools

such as

Excel, Minitab, or Power BI

. Experience using

ERP/MES systems

such as

SAP, Oracle, or Siemens

. Excellent

communication

,

problem-solving

, and

project management

skills.

Desirable Skills & Competencies:



Certified

Six Sigma Black Belt

or

Lean Practitioner

. Prior experience with

aerospace OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers

. Knowledge of

digital manufacturing
