Job Description

We are a family run curtain and blind manafactuer in Hertford. We are looking for a contract blind fitter to join us on a temp basis and support on bigger projects throughout the year.

You will need at least 2-5years experience installing blinds of all variations and curtains in a domestic and commerical market.

You will need a full clean driving license ideally.

Tools will be proivided.

This is not a full time position and the role will be per project in which case the hours will be full time and may include weekends.

You will need a up to date CSCS card.

Salary day rate can be discussed on application.

The ideal candidant will be responsible for the precise measurement, installation, maintenance, and repair of various window coverings, including blinds, curtains, and shutters, in both residential and commercial settings. This role requires a blend of technical skills, customer service expertise, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. They often work independently, managing their schedule and ensuring high-quality installations and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities

Installation:

Accurately measure, cut, prepare, and install a range of window treatments (blinds, curtains, shutters) according to specifications and customer preferences. This may involve using specialized tools and techniques for different types of materials (wood, aluminum, fabric) and mounting surfaces.

Site assessment:

Conduct site visits to assess window dimensions, identify potential challenges, and propose suitable solutions.

Customer interaction:

Provide expert advice on blind styles, materials, and motorization options to meet client needs and budgets. Effectively communicate with clients throughout the installation process, addressing questions and ensuring satisfaction.
Required skills and qualifications

Technical skills:

Proven experience in blind, shutter, and curtain installation. Proficiency in using various hand and power tools for installation tasks, including drills, screwdrivers, and measuring equipment. Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and fitting instructions. Knowledge of different window treatment materials (wood, aluminum, fabric), styles, and functionalities. Understanding of basic electrical systems for motorized window treatments (advantageous).

Problem-solving:

Ability to identify and resolve installation challenges efficiently, adapting to unexpected situations and finding creative solutions.

Attention to detail:

Meticulous approach to measurements and installations, ensuring high-quality workmanship and a polished finish.

Customer service:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and build rapport. Ability to provide clear and concise explanations and advice.

Time management:

Ability to plan and manage time effectively to ensure installations are completed within agreed timelines.

Independence and initiative:

Ability to work autonomously, manage tasks, and take initiative to address potential issues.

Physical fitness:

Sufficient physical stamina to handle materials, tools, and potentially work at heights or in various positions.

Driving license:

Full UK driving license for travel to client sites.

Certifications (advantageous):

Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Blue Skill Card for demonstrating occupational competence. Level 2 NVQ in Specialist Installation Occupations (Construction) - Blinds and Solar Shading Systems (Installation and Maintenance) is also a beneficial qualification.
Experience

Ideally, candidates should have previous experience in fitting blinds, curtains, or window dressings, or similar trades like carpentry, joinery, or shop fitting. Experience working in people's homes would be an advantage. Previous experience of working with power tools is essential. Experience with various blind types, such as roller, vertical, and Venetian blinds, is beneficial.
Working conditions

The role is primarily based on-site at customer properties (residential and commercial). Work may involve lifting and carrying items up to 40kg. Installations may require working at heights and using ladders or other equipment safely.
