Sulmara is seeking a Contracts Lead to join our team. Reporting directly to the Head of Contracts & Compliance, you'll be at the heart of our operations - supporting projects across the full contract lifecycle, advising commercial and executive teams, and ensuring our agreements are both commercially robust and fully compliant.



This is a varied and influential role where you'll not only lead contract negotiations but also deputise for the Head of Contracts & Compliance, which means that you will contribute to strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement across our global business.

What You'll Do



Lead negotiations for client and supplier contracts, MSAs, subcontracts, vessel charters, NDAs, and purchase orders. Provide expert advice on commercial risk, compliance, and insurance requirements. Support tender reviews, bid/no bid decisions, and governance approval processes. Manage post-award contracts, including change orders, extensions, claims, and dispute resolution. Ensure compliance with anti-bribery, sanctions, competition law, data protection, and modern slavery regulations. Oversee contractual insurance requirements, review certificates, and support claims and renewals. Deputise for the Head of Contracts & Compliance, representing the function at internal reviews and approving contracts within delegated authority. Drive continuous improvement by embedding lessons learned and evolving best practices.

What You'll Need



Proven experience in contract negotiation and management, ideally in offshore energy (oil & gas or renewables). Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance risk and opportunity. Knowledge of compliance frameworks and relevant legislation (anti-bribery, sanctions, competition law, data protection, etc.). Excellent stakeholder management skills - confident working with project teams, executives, and external counsel. Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and a proactive mindset. Ability to lead, influence, and deputise at senior level when required Strong understanding of risk allocation for offshore survey and subsea services.

Experience, Competency and Qualifications



Degree qualified in a legal discipline. Extensive experience in contracts/transactions within offshore survey, subsea, oil & gas and/or offshore renewables, with comfort across multiple jurisdictions.
Demonstrable track record leading negotiations of complex client and subcontract terms, including vessel charters.
