The Role: Contracts Manager
As our new Contract Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of construction projects across multiple sectors. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the contractual aspects of our projects from inception through completion, ensuring that obligations are met, risks are managed, and opportunities to optimise outcomes are realised.
You will act as the key point of contact for all matters related to your live projects, collaborating with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, legal advisers, and project teams. Your expertise will help safeguard the interests of the company, maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, and drive the successful execution of complex construction ventures.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and tenders including main contracts, subcontracts, consultancy agreements, as well as supplier agreements.
Advise project teams on contractual rights, obligations, and risks to ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
Oversee the administration of contracts throughout the project lifecycle, from tender to closeout.
Manage and resolve contract disputes, claims, and variations promptly and effectively.
Monitor contract performance and ensure key deliverables, timelines, and budgets are met.
Work closely with legal and commercial teams to interpret contract terms and provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies.
Maintain up-to-date records of all contractual documentation and correspondence.
Coordinate with procurement and finance teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Provide regular reports and updates to the management team on contract status, risks, and opportunities.
Support pre-qualification and tendering processes by preparing contract-related documentation and assessments.
Promote and ensure adherence to health and safety standards and company policies in all contractual dealings.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in contract management within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of construction law, industry regulations, and commercial practices. It would also be beneficial for the candidate to have construction based knowledge.
Essential Requirements
Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in contract management within the construction sector.
Strong negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office suite.
Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Attributes
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Law, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Comprehensive knowledge of standard forms of contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC, FIDIC, etc.).
Professional certification such as RICS, MRICS, or CIOB equivalent.
Experience with large-scale commercial or infrastructure projects.
Working knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
A proactive approach to risk management and value engineering.
