The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is a UKCRC registered and NCRI Clinical Trials Unit group member: https://www.ctc.ucl.ac.uk/ It is one of the largest cancer trials centres in the UK, with more than 115 members of staff managing >80 research studies.
The CTC conducts clinical studies in oncology, both nationally and internationally, with a cross-disciplinary approach to evaluate anti-cancer treatments, and investigate methods of diagnosis and early detection.
The majority of CTC trials involve investigational medicinal products and therefore fall within the scope of the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations. The CTC also conducts trials of methods of screening for cancers and trials of non-drug therapies, such as radiotherapy. All trials are also governed by other UK regulations, including the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act.
UCL acts as the regulatory sponsor for the majority of trials managed by the CTC, but delegates many sponsorship duties to the CTC through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Trial conduct requires a variety of contracts to be in place, in particular to ensure all roles and responsibilities are clear and documented. Under the MoU the CTC is required to ensure appropriate signed agreements are in place, based on agreed templates (where applicable), and to act in accordance with the agreements. The purpose of this post is to provide contracts support to CTC staff, and to help ensure all relevant contracts are in place for each trial, and CTC activity.
