About the role



The Control Centre Operative/Controller acts as a central point of contact and communication for all Rail Plant operations

Actively track and monitor operational delivery in real-time, providing communication and delivery support to any issues encountered.



Communicate and escalate operational issues, incidents and events internally and to our customers on a timely basis.



Disseminate information that enables decisions to be made in the interests of safe operational delivery and running of the railway, for our customers.



Effective management and control of unplanned events / incidents to defined processes and procedures.



Create machine / shift logs and records that enable the commercial recovery of costs incurred as a result of customer driven change.

What you'll be doing



Below are just some of the responsibilities of the role;



To act as a central point of contact and communication for Rail Plant operations; the Control Centre manages the timely communication and dissemination of information to the following parties;



Machine Operators / Drivers and site teams

Network Rail SCO Control

Network Rail Routes Controls

Rail Plant 2nd & 3rd Line On-Call

Rail Plant Operational, Engineering and Senior Managers



Management of Late Notice Changes, Out of Office Hours

Alternative planning and deployment of Operators / Drivers, to cover planned work, liaising with 1st and 2nd line on-call



Alternative planning and deployment of machines, to cover planned work, liaising with 1st and 2nd line on-call



Distribute / confirm VSTP machine running's and timings



Monitoring and acceptance / confirmation of shift detail changes in NROL across the respective business units.

Who we're looking for



Possess experience within a similar role (ideally within the Rail Industry) but also Aviation, Defence, Emergency Services or Transport sectors will be considered



Fully competent working with the full suite of Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc. Experience of MS Power Automate would be beneficial



Able to question effectively; to gather facts / information and evaluate a situation / risk



Able to communicate situational facts / information clearly and succinctly - Verbally and written



Calm under pressure, when dealing with accidents / incidents / unplanned events



Comfortable coordinating resources and activities from a remote location



Able to work effectively as part of a Team
