Brief Description

The role is based at Three Bridges Rail Operating Centre [TBROC] in Crawley, West Sussex. They will form part of a small Telecommunications engineering team based on-site at TBROC. Note: There is no on-call commitment and no requirement to go trackside with this role. The role is to primarily provide 1st line fault response, remote monitoring and technical assistance with 3rd line fault investigations on the following equipment: VOIP phone systems, IP phone systems, IP Networks, Fixed Telecommunications Network [FTN] and Global System for Mobile Communications - Railway [GSM-R].

Duties and Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Establish and maintain appropriate safety arrangements for staff under your control including Contractors.

\xc2\xb7 Carryout work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements or other relevant instructions.

\xc2\xb7 Undertake work and associated duties for which you are trained and competent.

\xc2\xb7 Monitor information arising from remote condition monitoring equipment and liaise as required with Controls, Section Managers and Engineers on fault analysis, response and prioritisation of entry into fault management systems.

\xc2\xb7 Manage entries and close out of faults in the fault management and fault rectification activities.

\xc2\xb7 Undertake and direct work activities in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with all relevant standards.

\xc2\xb7 Control and check the quality of work undertaken and confirm assets are compliant to standards.

\xc2\xb7 Check that the staff under your control have the appropriate and valid competencies.

\xc2\xb7 Check that vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials under your control are fit for use and are used/stored and disposed of correctly.

\xc2\xb7 Accurately report all work completed/not completed and produce/maintain records as required

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to your own development and that of others.

\xc2\xb7 Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Experience, skills, knowledge, competencies and qualifications:

\xc2\xb7 Experience of arranging and implementing safe systems of work.

\xc2\xb7 Experience of organising and controlling the safe and efficient delivery of work.

\xc2\xb7 Able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.

\xc2\xb7 Able to lead, motivate and direct a team.

\xc2\xb7 Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge and experience of signalling inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques.

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions.

\xc2\xb7 Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post, required by business need.

\xc2\xb7 Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience.

\xc2\xb7 Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
