An exciting opportunity has arisen for a reliable and hardworking individual to join our friendly and supportive catering team at Orchard House.

Orchard House is a 31-bed residential care home providing care for older people, many of whom are living with dementia. We pride ourselves on offering a warm, homely environment where residents are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

About the Role

You will support the Head Cook/Chef in the preparation and service of meals, helping ensure residents receive nutritious, well-presented food in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Other days you'll lead the kitchen when the head cook is off.

This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and understands the importance of food in enhancing residents' wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and service of meals, including breakfast items Regenerate cook-chill meals and prepare accompaniments such as custard and gravy Support food preparation as required by the Head Cook Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces in line with cleaning schedules Ensure food hygiene, health & safety, and infection control standards are met at all times Store food and cleaning materials safely and correctly Wear appropriate protective clothing and headwear as required Support compliance with Environmental Health and statutory inspections Carry out any reasonable duties as requested by the Head Cook or Home Manager

Working Hours - Rolling Rota

Week 1

Tuesday: 8am-4pm Wednesday: 9am-1pm Sat: 8am-6pm Sun: 8am-6pm

Week 2

Tue: 8am-4pm Wed: 9am-1pm Thu: 8am-6pm Fri: 8am-6pm
(Other days off as per rota)

What We're Looking For
