As Cook/Kitchen Assistant, you will work alongside the Head Chef to deliver a high quality of food to our residents and ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner.

Cook/Kitchen Assistant Contract

12.34 per hour 16 hours per week Cook

or

32 hours per week (2 days per week as cook / 2 days per week as kitchen assistant) Additional 1 per hour for weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata) Free uniform and onsite parking Paid PVG and access to a pension scheme Ongoing training and opportunities for career development

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

City & Guilds 706 - 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards) Team player. Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. Good communication skills. Ability to work on own initiative

Desired

Experience of food preparation for the relevant Service User group. Experience working in a care environment would be advantageous but not a deal-breaker.

Main Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals, as and when required. Bake cakes and pastries Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks Conduct Basic Food Hygiene training for all care staff involved in handling and delivery of food. Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence. Maintain accurate records of food supplies, and freezer/fridge temperatures. Ensure stock rotation. Assist in the ordering of stocks and checking of deliveries Ensure statutory Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas. Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately
