We are more than a cookery school. As a foundation, we are community-focused, delivering educational cooking programmes, co-hosting cultural celebrations, and offering opportunities to donate meal provisions to those in need. With our flagship Cookery School based in Sheffield, we're excited to open our second site in Digbeth, close to the heart of Birmingham, and to expand our team.

We're looking for a Chef Instructor to deliver high-quality, engaging cookery classes and maintain excellent kitchen standards. Working under the Head Chef's leadership, the Chef Instructor ensures consistency across all class delivery, recipe execution, participant experience, food hygiene and safety, and kitchen operations.

About Blend Culinary Foundation:



Established in 2024, the Blend Culinary Foundation reinvests profits from ticketed classes and venue hires into community programmes and meals. We also collaborate with businesses to deliver value-driven corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including sponsorship opportunities, team-building cooking classes, and corporate pledge events that support food banks, charities, and local organisations.

Job Duties:



Deliver high-quality and engaging cookery classes for all activations: ticket-based social classes, private parties and team-building experiences, corporate pledge cooking day events, and community-based class programming based in food education. Provide excellent customer service and ensure all participants feel welcomed, supported, and included. Lead guest chefs, volunteers, and community partners during cooking sessions. Execute recipes and class menus consistently signed with Blend Culinary Foundation's quality standard. Maintain daily kitchen readiness for all class activations by ensuring cleanliness, equipment checks, mise-en-place, and efficient time management. Manage stock rotation, ingredient preparation, and all supply ordering needs for activations and kitchen maintenance. Support the Head Chef in maintaining supplier relationships. Support the training of kitchen staff, apprentices, and volunteers. Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and mission-aligned kitchen environment. Conduct weekly deep cleans and ensure compliance with all hygiene and safety systems. Ensure all food hygiene, allergen, and HACCP procedures are followed accurately. Adhere to Blend Culinary Foundation kitchen and operating procedures (SOPs), comply with company policies to maintain a clean, safe, and legal workplace, and maintain key documentation to quality kitchen standards, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and allergen sheets.

What we're looking for:



Professional chef experience in hospitality, education, or events-based cooking. Strong cooking, preparation, and time-management skills. Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety, allergen management, and kitchen compliance. Should hold a Food Hygiene Certificate level 2 or 3. Warm interpersonal skills, confidence working with the public, and excellent customer service skills. Effective communicator, problem solver, and team player. Basic computer literacy. Ability to work in the UK.
