Job Description

To prepare and serve a simple and nutritious food which provides for the needs of the service users. To ensure that the kitchen is maintained in a hygienic way and ensure any necessary cleaning is done.

Principal Responsibilities

1. To prepare and cook food in a hygienic manner.

2. To be aware of the Service Users' dietary needs and respond to their comments in respect of the menu.

3. To be involved with the preparation and serving of tea in the evening.

4. To adhere to food hygiene standards

5. To ensure that all crockery is cleaned properly and hygienically between uses.

6. To maintain equipment and report any malfunctions to the Nurse/Home Manager.

7. To take part in staff meetings where necessary.

8. To undertake training where necessary or directed.

Person Specification - Essential Criteria

1. Comfortable working with and preparing food.

2. Self motivated

3. Organised

4. Flexible

5. Sensitive to the needs of others, the sick and infirm.

6. An active team player but also able to work on own initiative.

All staff is required to:

1. Respect the confidentiality of all matters that they might learn in the course of their employment.

2. Respect the requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998.

3. Ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Before commencing their employment an enhanced DBS would be applied for.
