Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to work in a care home with 14 guests whose dietary requirements vary dependent of their consistency/texture needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meal preparation and food safety, with a keen interest in creating delicious dishes that delight our guests. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation. You will work alone crossing over with another cook.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and menus. Assist in food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and marinating ingredients. Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Help develop new recipes and menu items that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting any shortages to the kitchen manager. Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.

Skills

Proficient in meal preparation techniques and food safety practices. Experience working in a kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant setting. Strong culinary skills with an ability to follow recipes accurately. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Good communication skills to interact with kitchen staff and management. A passion for cooking and creating high-quality dishes.

Pay: 12.60-12.89 per hour
