Great Rail Journeys is the UK's leading provider of holidays by rail, offering escorted tours, river cruises and tailormade holidays to more than 40 countries across the world. With over five decades of experience, we are experts in showcasing the beauty and diversity of the destinations we travel to, taking people to places only rail can reach. We take more than 50,000 customers on holiday each year and are fantastically proud of our high-quality tours that we know customers love. We care passionately about customers, understand the small touches and attention to detail that make a holiday special, alongside the knowledge and experience to navigate the world by rail. We employ around 150 people, based in the city of York, in the Hudson Quarter, directly opposite York railway station - the very heart of the UK rail industry.

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Copywriter to join our Studio team.

As part of the in-house Studio team, your role is to create memorable, shareable copy and content, inspiring and informing our audiences in a way that brings our brands to life. You'll be at home creating a wide range of content, including but not limited to long and short form copy, SEO copy and social media posts across all channels. As a true creative champion, you'll collaborate with other creatives, positively challenge and help develop clear and focused briefs, making it your mission to understand our audience and the purpose of the communication so you can create content that is both compelling and impactful.

Working with the copy lead, Studio Manager and across the business, you'll be responsible for raising the creative bar and being part of a team of passionate and proud experts in their field.

This role does offer hybrid-working, but we're looking for someone who can come into the business four days a week, so a commutable distance is essential.

What we're looking for:

A degree or professional qualification in an appropriate discipline

Experience in writing across all areas, from print to digital, including websites, emails, blogs, social media

A confident and proficient user of InDesign

A strong body of work that demonstrates your creativity and passion for writing

A natural collaborator who enjoys working in a team

High levels of literacy with exceptionally high attention to detail and accuracy

Experience of working in either an agency or in-house environment

The ability to communicate ideas, decisions, and reasoning clearly and confidently

A genuine passion for travel and a love of storytelling
