About the Role
This role focuses on building trust and re-engaging a learner with education in a way that feels safe, manageable, and empowering. You'll work independently in a 1:1 setting, supported by our wider multidisciplinary team, to deliver tailored lessons in core subjects such as English, maths, science, and/or humanities.
This student requires a
non-traditional, flexible approach
--sessions should be guided by their interests and emotional readiness, rather than rigid plans or academic pressure.
What You'll Do
Deliver in-person, one-to-one tuition to a KS3/KS4 student in the Clevedon (BS21) area
Focus on core academic subjects with flexible, responsive lesson content
Use
low-demand
, interest-led strategies suited to learners with PDA, ADD, and anxiety
Work in a
calm, low-arousal environment
that prioritises emotional regulation and autonomy
Collaborate with parents/carers and the wider support network to ensure consistency and progress
Keep accurate, reflective records of academic and emotional development
We're Looking For Someone Who:
Has strong experience supporting neurodivergent adolescents, especially those with PDA, ADD, and anxiety
Is confident in leading
child-led learning
in non-traditional, therapeutic environments
Understands EOTAS and alternative provision settings
Can build rapport with learners who may be disengaged from or anxious about education
Essential Criteria
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A degree (BA/BSc) in a relevant core subject (STEM, humanities, or social sciences)
Minimum 2 years' teaching experience, ideally in KS3/KS4
Experience working within alternative provision, EOTAS, or similar environments
Flexibility to deliver sessions on-site in BS21
Desirable
Safeguarding Level 1 (or above)
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
Trauma-informed or low-arousal training
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: 40.00-50.00 per hour
