It is basically a hybrid Solution Architect and Business architect. Someone who can map out potential high level system landscapes and compare/contrast the various options coming out of an RFP. Lots of communication and stakeholder engagement. And then progression into the detail.

The role is based in London/Sheffield, UK.

Summary

Corporate Services IT is recruiting for a Corporate Real Estate Solution Architect.

This role will help shape define and assess potential future state architecture and application landscapes for Corporate Real Estate, coving the business capabilities of: Capital Management, Portfolio Management, Workspace Experience and Workspace Operations. They will help our Corporate Services business to map technology solutions to business processes and help them identify the pros/cons relating to various options for the end-to-end technology landscape. This will also include comparison of best of breed application ecosystems against an IWMS (Modular integrated workplace management solution e.g. IBM Trirega). There is a potential for the role to extend from initial strategic assessment into delivery, also covering detailed solution design and architectural governance.

The role will work in close partnership with other Enterprise and Solution architects covering Corporate Services.

Responsible For:

  • Working with the various business and functional stakeholders to understand their business strategy and target operating model to produce corresponding architecture roadmaps
  • Developing high quality, user-friendly architecture diagrams and assessments to enable technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand and assess potential future state landscape
  • Assessing specific solutions against architectural principles to determine suitability/alignment
  • Delivering Architecture and Solution Designs to meet business requirements, from logical architecture through to physical infrastructure architecture
  • Participating in Architectural Governance processes to ensure that proposed solution designs are strategically aligned to the architecture roadmaps and the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Future State Architecture
  • Ensuring proposed solution designs utilize group approved technology and adhere to approved technology and infrastructure design patterns
  • Ensuring that deployed system solutions, both vendor supplied, and in-house developments are appropriately hosted (Internally, Externally, Cloud, PaaS, SaaS) including the corresponding governance and relevant approval processes
  • Gaining insight into industry developments and trends and identifying opportunities for innovation and leveraging new technology
  • Identifying and leveraging appropriate industry and HSBC defined architecture reference models and solution patterns
  • Providing architectural consultancy as required for the delivery of projects to ensure business objectives are achieved and regulatory and operational risks are controlled
  • Promoting an environment and way of working that supports inclusion and diversity and reflects the HSBC brand
EXPERIENCE
  • Strong technical background and broad set of IT skills, built up through direct involvement with a wide range of technologies and solutions involving infrastructure architecture, application architecture and design, systems integration, (including APIs), workflow, data and information management
  • Strong background of system engineering, able to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement. Able to provide technical thought leadership in the evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption
  • Experienced in completing RFP assessments of potential solutions, in particular assessing how technology will/will not align with architectural roadmap and principles
  • In-depth technical, functional and non-functional knowledge of:
- Networking
- Server infrastructure and virtualization
- Cloud infrastructure
- Middleware
- Databases * Excellent understanding of the concept of Enterprise Architecture and its relationship to business strategy and target operating models, and how to relate this to an architecture roadmap and a solid understanding of general architectural concepts, principles, governance and best practices
  • Experience of working with enterprise or global systems and solutions, including Externally Hosted and Cloud based-solutions; PaaS, SaaS and the associated governance processes; EHC, ITSA, etc.
  • Experience of technologies used by HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s strategic partners: AWS, Google GCP, Azure, Mulesoft
  • Direct experience of working closely with business stakeholders to translate business strategies and target operating models into functional, architecture and systems roadmaps
  • A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
  • Experience of project delivery using Agile or Iterative methodologies and frameworks; DevOps
  • Experience in other architecture disciplines such as data or business architecture
  • Working knowledge of EIM Troux, JIRA and Confluence
  • Domain knowledge of Corporate Real Estate Technology e.g. IWMS (such as IBM Trirega, Planon, Archibus)
  • Understanding of the Financial Services industry would be beneficial
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
  • Excellent analytical and strategy skills; able to see the bigger picture
  • Good understanding of the project development lifecycle and project management and planning and experience in managing the architectural elements of a project plan
  • Good understanding of how to conduct technical solution assessments, RFIs and RFPs
  • Strong consulting techniques and negotiation skills. Considered decision making skills
  • Appreciation of the challenges and complexity around the delivery of large, strategic, enterprise level solutions, and the importance of adhering to group standards, policies and best practices
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Able to communicate clearly and concisely with business and IT partners at all organizational levels, internally or externally
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with high levels of confidence and trust
  • Self-motivated, proactive, resourceful and enthusiastic
  • An appetite for learning new technologies quickly, able to work on challenging technical problems, collaborating with subject matter experts to agree solutions
