Corporate Partner

Altrincham, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We have a new opportunity for an established and highly skilled individual to join our firm as a Corporate Partner.

Our firm

Myerson is a Top 200 UK Law Firm as recognised by The Lawyer. We are also proud to be ranked 'Top Tier' by The Legal 500, commended by The Times 'Best Law Firms 2019 and 2023', and named 'Health & Wellbeing Champions' at the Manchester Legal Awards 2023.

We are one of the largest independent law firms in the North West, a bold claim we are proud to make because it's been hard won. No instant growth through acquisition or merger. Instead, growth earned from our day-to-day endeavours, an entrepreneurial approach to doing business and a rock-solid reputation. We recruit staff who are motivated by our core values and have an affinity to our collegiate and independent ethos.

In September 2024, Myerson became a 100% employee-owned business. We are incredibly proud to be the first law firm in the Manchester market to make this positive step. Being employee owned means we have taken steps to safeguard our independence, stability and people-first culture for years to come.

The team

Our leading Corporate team provides the highest level of strategic advice to a large portfolio of commercial organisations. The team has grown in size over recent years and continues to go from strength to strength, previously winning Corporate (and Commercial) Team of the Year at the Manchester Legal Awards and named "Team of the Year (Cheshire)" at the 2025 North West Rainmaker Awards. It continually retains its status as Tier 1 Legal 500 practice.

The role

As a senior member of the team, you will have a range of duties and responsibilities to ensure the overall success of the Corporate team. In addition to typical fee earning duties, you will assist the Head of Department and other Partners with the future strategic direction of the department. You will have operational input into decisions that affect the Corporate team. You will also play a key role in supervising junior members of the team and assist them with their day-to-day enquiries and caseload.

Typical matters include

Mergers, acquisitions and disposals Due diligence and disclosure Investment agreements Shareholder agreements (and articles of association) Succession planning LLP/Partnership arrangements Share restructuring/group re-organisation Share options (including EMIs) Company formation and administration Non-contentious insolvency work Nanking (loans, security and deeds of priority) EOT conversions and other succession strategies

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an established Corporate Partner with experience at either a national or top tier regional firm.

Candidates are required to have exceptional knowledge of all areas of corporate law, experience of providing high quality advice representing a leading law firm, and an ability to both play a lead role in transactions and effectively supervise more junior members of the team. We would expect the successful candidate to have top quality connections in the regional market, although a client following is not required. Experience of working with SME and OMB clients is also desirable.

Candidates will need to demonstrate high levels of technical skill and the ability to maintain strong client relationships. Candidates are also required to demonstrate how they can promote the Corporate department and other legal services offered by the firm to existing and new target clients and obtain referrals from contacts and referrers.

Candidates must have a pragmatic and solution-focused approach to their work and good client management and matter management skills. The ability to work well with experienced professionals within a team-orientated environment is essential.

As an award-winning law firm, we are passionate about finding eager, knowledgeable individuals and supporting them to become leaders in their field. We are strong advocates of a successful work/life balance, finding forward-thinking individuals with enthusiasm for their role.
