We are looking for an ambitious and talented lawyer to join our highly regarded top tier Corporate team with opportunities across a variety of work types including Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets & Governance and Private Equity / Venture Capital. The Bristol team provide the full spectrum of corporate services including private equity, venture capital, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, equity capital markets, restructuring, reorganisations and governance. We focus on acting for clients at the forefront of transformational change in the key sectors of digital business, energy & utilities, financial services, mobility & infrastructure and the built environment, with a number of the partners in the team being leaders in those sectors and attracting high profile and innovative projects.

With clients such as large quoted companies, privately owned businesses, banks, financial institutions and institutional investors, in the last year the Bristol team have acted on over 60 deals with an aggregate value of over \xc2\xa32billion.

The team

The Corporate Bristol team is led by David Ferris and comprises of 10 further Partners, 3 Associate Directors, 6 Senior Associates, 7 Associates, 2 Trainee Solicitors, 2 Paralegals, and 1 Solicitor Apprentice. The team is part of, and works closely, with Corporate colleagues in Osborne Clarke LLP\'s Thames Valley and London offices, meaning that the department is made up of 120 fee earners overall. It also works closely with specialist teams at the firm who support our transactions and our network of international offices.

The work

Recent work undertaken by the team includes:

  • Advised Lloyds Development Capital on its investment into Plimsoll Productions, one of the largest independent television production companies in the UK
  • Advised the shareholders of Spherics, the provider of a carbon accounting solution to help businesses easily understand and reduce their environmental impact, on its acquisition by Sage
  • Advised Volpi Capital, a leading pan-European B2B technology investor, on its investment in Xalient, a UK-based supplier of global networking and cybersecurity services
  • Acted for longstanding client, National Grid Energy Distribution (formerly Western Power Distribution) on the sale of its smart metering division to facilities provider Stark
  • Acted for Hargreaves Lansdown, a FTSE100 financial services business, on its sale of Funds Library
  • Advised multinational defence technology company QinetiQ on the sale of a commercial space business providing design and integration of critical space infrastructure and other instruments for end-to-end space missions
  • Advised Super Payments, a FinTech which is aiming to disrupt the current online payments ecosystem, on one of the largest ever pre-seed funding rounds in Europe
  • Advised Foresight Solar Fund Ltd and JLEN Environmental Assets Group Ltd on their acquisition of the 50MW Clayfords battery storage project in Scotland which will be connected to the Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution network
  • Advised Genr8 Kajima on its corporate joint venture with Newcastle University to regenerate part of the City of Newcastle into a world class centre for research and innovation in ageing and living well
  • Advised leading growth investor Synova on its investment in ZatPark, a provider of real-time enforcement and permitting software for private parking companies and local authorities to manage parking
  • Advised Invesco Software Limited on its \xc2\xa3120m investment from Five Arrows Principal Investments, the European corporate private equity arm of Rothschild & Co
  • Advised specialist alternative asset manager Gresham House on its acquisition of two fully-permitted solar and battery energy storage projects in the UK from global energy provider, Canadian Solar
  • Advised Creo Medical Group, a medical device company focused on the emerging field of surgical endoscopy and quoted on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, on a series of successful fundraisings by way of a placing and an open offer
  • Advised German real estate investor, HIH Invest Real Estate, on its offshore corporate acquisition of prime office building in central London at 15 Fetter Lane EC4A
Technical skills and experience

You will have gained a wide range of experience within Corporate matters in a similar role at a City or highly regarded national practice and have a high degree of self-motivation and willingness to learn, the ability to work effectively in a team and a passion for delivering excellent service to clients.

Due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking for a Senior Associate, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.
