Summary
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Clinical Governance & Risk
Provide clear clinical leadership and a robust escalation route for counsellors.
Review and consult on complex cases, ensuring appropriate safeguarding and ethical decision-making.
Maintain and update counselling policies, clinical governance procedures, and safeguarding frameworks.
Act as Safeguarding Lead and work in partnership with statutory agencies where required.
Agree and monitor quality standards and KPIs with CEO and management team.
Evaluation & Reporting
Oversee evaluation and outcome-measurement systems (e.g., CORE-Net, Salesforce).
Ensure consistent completion of assessments, outcome tools and reporting.
Use monitoring data to demonstrate impact and inform service improvement.
Referral Pathways & Access
Oversee referrals and triage processes to ensure timely, safe and appropriate client pathways.
Maintain strong relationships with SHSCT, GPs, NIAS, PSNI and community partners to support coordinated access to services.
Strengthen referral and signposting links to promote client choice and positive outcomes.
Service Development
Identify service improvement needs based on client feedback, staff reflection and community need.
Ensure services remain responsive, accessible and recovery-focused.
Contribute to strategic planning, policy development and organisational reporting.
Leadership & Support
Lead and support the counselling and associate network across all PIPS HS sites.
Provide line management and performance oversight, ensuring strong communication and teamwork.
Ensure all practitioners receive supervision, reflective practice and CPD appropriate to their roles.
Facilitate team meetings and promote shared learning and consistency of practice.
Represent PIPS Hope & Support at networks and partnership forums
Job Purpose
The Counselling Services Lead is a key role within the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that all counselling and wellbeing services are delivered safely, ethically and to a high standard. The post holder will provide leadership, oversight and coordination of the counselling team and associate network, ensuring a consistent, compassionate and person-centred approach across all PIPS Hope & Support services.
This role will ensure:
Strong clinical and counselling governance across all services.
High-quality, evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
Effective leadership and development of counsellors and trainees.
Consistent safeguarding and risk management processes.
A collaborative, compassionate and "one team" approach across the organisation.
