Job Title: Counter Sales Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and customer-oriented Counter Sales Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting customers with their purchases of building, agricultural and fencing materials, providing excellent customer service, and driving sales through effective communication and product knowledge.

Hours of work are 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday with half hour lunch break. Alternate Saturday working 8.00am to 12.30pm with time off in lieu is also a requirement of the position.

Main duties include but are not restricted to:

- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner

- Providing assistance and advice on product requirements where necessary

- Process transactions accurately and efficiently using merchanting system providing quotes and taking orders for delivery

- Upsell products to increase sales revenue

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment ensuring shop displays are adequately stocked, priced and well presented

- Answer customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly

- Utilize basic numeracy skills for cash handling and transactions

- Communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction

- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when handling customer inquiries

Experience:

- Previous experience in retail sales preferably in building and agricultural sectors.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask

- Basic numeracy for processing transactions

- Excellent communication skills

- Time management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively

- Proven ability to sell or promote products effectively

- Physically fit

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.50-14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 42.5 per week
