Salary: 12.60 per hour (no NVQ), 12.66 per hour with NVQ/QCF level 2 in Health & Social Care, 12.70 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care
Hours: 20 hours per week (Mon - Fri, 9am - 1pm)

At Aaron House, we are looking for caring and dedicated Day Care Workers to join our team. Whether you are experienced or looking to start a new career in care, we offer training and support to help you succeed.
Main Function of the Job
As a Day Care Worker, you will be expected to work as part of the Day Care Team to deliver a range of activities, develop and adapt activities to enable all Service Users to participate, individually and as part of a group. To assist, with the day care staff team the delivery of a specific programme of activities, care and support which will provide each day care service user with the opportunity to work on developing to their full potential.
The day care centre is a small unit providing day care for adults with mild, severe and profound learning disabilities. It accommodates up to 9 service users per day with a maximum of 4 wheelchairs per day due to the confines of space. The primary aim is to assist all service users to meet their full potential with the primary motivating factor being that people matter to God.
About the role
1. Care Responsibilities
a) Assist with the design, plan and implementation of individual programmes of care for residents, ensuring and promoting resident involvement
b) Monitor, evaluate and review programmes of care to achieve high standards and provision of a quality service, identifying met/unmet needs.
c) Help residents with all aspects of personal care where necessary to ensure their needs are met, upholding core values of privacy and dignity, choice and consent
d) Encourage residents to be as active and as independent as possible.
e) Arrange and /or accompany residents to medical/health appointments and on social outings
f) Liaise with multi-disciplinary support agencies to ensure the holistic care needs of the residents are effectively met.
g) Administer medicines and adhere to all policies in relation to medicine control.
h) Plan, implement and supervise residents' creative activities and recreation daily, ensuring records are maintained.
i) Ensure vigilance is exercised at all times in relation to the health, safety and well being of residents, staff and visitors to the Home.
j) Administer PEG feeds to residents as required
2. Leadership and Training
a) Undertake staff supervision as directed by the Service Manager and provide input to staff performance appraisals and staff personal development plans.
b) Exercise good leadership skills and promote team building measures.
c) Be involved with QCF Assessments as directed by the Home Manager.
d) Ensure that there is an effective written/verbal handover between staff at all times.
e) Ensure adherence to all rules, regulations and reporting mechanisms
f) Assist with staff training and support to ensure compliance with professional standards and Codes of Practice.
g) Implement Quality Assurance programmes.
h) To facilitate and assess new staff working to NISCC induction standards and ensure individual requirements are being met.
i) To Facilitate effective communication processes
j) To work with the support team to ensure objectives and methods of work with each service user are understood
k) Assist with rota management
l) Assist in the safe management of the monthly medication process ensuring that polices and protocols are adhered to.
3. Administration
a) Deal with enquiries when necessary, referring to the Service Manager as appropriate.
b) Deal with administrative tasks.
c) Maintain all records within the context of confidentiality and client access as agreed within the Council for Social Witness and in keeping with legislation and guidance for residential care.
d) To maintain and ensure that daily records of service provision are maintained within Service User files
e) To write up evaluation of care interventions and reviews of individual Service User's progress
f) To report any changes in, or concerns about, individual service users to the Service Manager.
g) To take responsibility for receiving and receipting all service user monies and monitoring petty cash expenditure as applicable following the identified procedure.
h) To be familiar with all Policies and Procedures and to deliver services in compliance with PCI
i) To ensure a sustainable service through the delivery of support to individuals as per contractual arrangements
4. Meetings and Training
a) To attend Senior Care Assistant meetings and general staff meetings with the Service Manager to review and plan work
b) To attend individual supervision meetings with the Service Manager
c) To participate in in -service mandatory training
d) To develop knowledge and expertise in requirements to meet regulatory standards
e) To develop knowledge and expertise on the effects of Learning, physical, and sensory disability on individuals.
5. Health and Safety
a) To be aware of and act in accordance with The Presbyterian Church in Ireland Health and Safety Policy
b) To be aware of and act in accordance with the Presbyterian Church in Ireland Safeguarding policies.
c) To conduct all activities in a manner which is safe to themselves and others
d) To carry out health and safety monitoring checklists and audits including the risk assessments and will report on complaints and adverse incidents.
e) To report the need for repairs and maintenance in the building to the appropriate person(s) and follow up as necessary.
6. Additional Duties
a) To lead/organise Daily Devotions for Residents
b) To liaise with local clergy in relation to the spiritual programme within the Home
c) To carry out any other reasonable duty as required by Management of the Home which is necessary for the support and well-being of the residents.
