Job Description

The Glasgow Barons named after the shipbuilding barons, Govan's orchestra revitalises local venues with performances and makes music with Govan's diverse communities. Since our first concert in Govan Old Parish Church in May 2017, we have worked with local communities and agencies to build a new story for Govan as thriving arts hub, community music centre and regeneration orchestra. Our asylum-seeking and refugee Musicians in Exile have become famous for bringing diverse peoples together to tell new stories about Scotland's new Scots.

Winners of the 2019 National Diversity Award as Community Organisation for Race, Religion and Faith, we are also finalists for the 2020 Scottish Community Business and Creative Regeneration awards by the Federation of Small Businesses and Scottish Urban Regeneration Forum respectively.

Purpose of the Role



The Creative Communities Producer is the Community Liaison Partner for Govan, and our three city-wide communities of interest: those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, asylum seekers and refugees, and the baby strings programme within Primary Schools across the city. This is a broad and varied role which involves implementing key strategic objectives which will deliver 'on the ground' musical services in the community. This will involve getting involved in the heart of the community; ranging from interacting with the public in a shopping centre and poster/leaflet drops to working face to face with the groups delivering musical services & community liaison.

1. General



? Booking facilitators/resources/equipment/locations for events.

? Attending events as a representative of the Glasgow Barons.

? Arranging suitable staffing volunteers for events where required.

? Providing the box office services at events i.e. collecting tickets/cash at the door/collating number of attendees, soundbites etc.

? Assisting performers, ensuring they have what they need to deliver their performance. Where there are issues, seeking solutions and providing support as required.

? Dealing with internal and external enquiries.

? Developing and creating event information so that the website/social media pages can be updated.

? Arranging the production of marketing materials as and when required and distributing them within the community by a variety of methods - social media, posters and leaflet drops.

? Engages with the local community regularly to develop positive, productive relationships across the communities of interest.

? Identifies opportunities for cross partnership working to promote the services and opportunities of working in collaboration with the Glasgow Barons.

? Ensures all Company policy and procedures are maintained and complied with; both as an employee and as a service provider.

? Any other tasks as required for the smooth operation of the Glasgow Barons.

2. Community Liaison and Engagement



? Keeps the information of the three distinct communities of interest up to date i.e. those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, asylum seekers and refugees, and the baby strings programme within Primary Schools across the city.

? Liaises with the key stakeholders involved in the running of the groups, ensuring planned events are delivered effectively by taking ownership from planning to delivery of the project.

? Attends meetings/events with the groups to ensure the Glasgow Barons priorities and objectives are being progressed.

? Feeds information back to the Creative Producer and Artistic Director to further inform event planning and development.

? Collects marketing materials such as flyers, billboard posters etc., and distributes these across the community.

? Raises the Glasgow Barons profile by visiting key stakeholders such as community groups, business etc, to promote the Glasgow Barons services which are available to all.

3. Finance



? Managing the budget allocated to the communities of interest; ensuring it is within the designated budget framework and timelines.

? Responding to internal queries regarding accounting matters timeously.

? Contributing information for monthly management reports for Board Meetings.

? Works closely with Artistic Director, Creative Producer and external auditors as and when required.

4. Performance Analysis



? Gathering metrics that can evidence what activity has been undertaken within the community interest groups the Barons support.

? Using metrics to measure delivery of Key Performance Indicators specified by our different funding partners i.e. Glasgow Life, Robertson Trust etc.

? Contributes information to the monthly analysis reports for the Director and the Board.

? Any other tasks as required for the smooth delivery and operation of the Glasgow Barons.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 16,800.00 per year

Expected hours: 21 per week
