Creative Director (growth & Brand)

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

ZYMIX is an innovative super-app revolutionizing social interaction and services for the UK's young urbanites aged 18-30, integrating instant messaging, contextual social networking, lightweight mini-programs, and seamless payments. With a "social-as-a-service" strategy, we aim to become the go-to platform for Gen Z consumers, filling market gaps in anonymous socializing, nearby interactions, and integrated local lifestyle services. Join us as we pilot in key universities and life scenes, building a dynamic ecosystem that empowers users and businesses alike.

Your Core Mission

To bridge the gap between Brand Magic and Performance Logic. You will own the quality, velocity, and performance of our creative output, ensuring we hit our three "North Star" KPIs:

CTR & Conversion:

Creativity that converts.

Efficiency:

High-velocity asset production without burnout.

Brand Consistency:

Building trust across every touchpoint.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the "Performance Creative" Engine

Data-Driven Ideation:

Partner daily with the Head of Performance Marketing to analyse creative data (CTR, IPM, ROAS). You will translate spreadsheets into storyboards, iterating on winning concepts (e.g., "The hook on video B worked; let's apply that to the Fintech vertical").

Channel-Native Mastery:

You know why a TikTok ad shouldn't look like an Instagram Story. You will oversee the production of platform-specific assets that feel native, authentic, and engaging.

The Feedback Loop:

Establish a rigorous feedback loop between the Growth Squads (buying the ads) and the Creative Studio (making the ads), ensuring designers understand why an ad won or lost.

2. Guardian of the Zymix Brand

Trust at Speed:

We are a Fintech Super App; trust is our currency. You will ensure that even our most aggressive direct-response ads never compromise our brand integrity or regulatory compliance (FCA/GDPR).

Systematise Consistency:

Build and maintain a robust Design System and "Creative API" (templates, guidelines, asset libraries) that allows us to scale output without losing visual identity.

Unified Narrative:

Ensure that a user who clicks an ad for "Ride-hailing" and lands on a page for "Digital Banking" feels a seamless, connected brand experience.

3. Operational Excellence & Efficiency

Scale the Studio:

Move us away from "one-off" artisan production to scalable creative operations. Implement tools and workflows (e.g., Creative Automation, GenAI for storyboarding) to increase asset velocity by 3x.

Manage the Pipeline:

Oversee the intake and prioritisation of briefs from multiple vertical squads (Payments, Lifestyle, Mobility), managing resources to prevent bottlenecks.

4. Team Leadership & Culture

Mentorship:

Lead a multidisciplinary team of Motion Designers, Graphic Designers, and Copywriters. You are a player-coach who can still jump into Figma or After Effects when needed.

Culture of Testing:

Foster an environment where "failure" is seen as "learning." Encourage the team to detach their ego from the work and fall in love with the outcome.

The Ideal Candidate:

Experience:

8-10+ years in creative roles, with at least 3 years leading a team in a high-growth tech startup, fintech, or performance marketing agency.

The Portfolio:

We need to see a portfolio that shows results, not just aesthetics. Show us the campaign that lowered CAC by 20% or the rebrand that increased retention.

The "Performance" Brain:

You understand metrics like CTR, CPM, CPA, and Hook Rate. You know how to design for the first 3 seconds of a video.

The "Brand" Eye:

You have impeccable taste. You understand typography, motion theory, and visual hierarchy. You refuse to ship "ugly" ads just because they might convert--you find the middle ground.

Tool Proficiency:

Deep knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and Figma. Familiarity with creative automation tools (e.g., Smartly, Celtra) or project management tools (Asana, Monday) is a plus.

Leadership Style:

Direct, empathetic, and highly collaborative. You can debate strategy with a Data Analyst and discuss kerning with a Designer in the same hour.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 80,000.00-100,000.00 per year

Benefits:

Bereavement leave Company pension Life insurance Private medical insurance Referral programme Sick pay
