Your Role
As Stockroom prepares to open its doors in May 2025, we're looking for a dynamic and collaborative individual to lead the centre through its exciting launch phase and into long-term success.
The post-holder will play a key role in refining and embedding the operating model for Stockroom once it opens. This includes working closely with the Council's design team, and colleagues from Libraries, Arts, Culture and Heritage, as well as Stockport's vibrant cultural and voluntary sectors.
You'll lead the development of Stockroom's operational and business plan, identifying funding opportunities, income generation models, and practical ways to ensure sustainability. You'll also drive collaboration across the cultural sector to support a diverse and inclusive creative programme.
This is a hands-on role at a critical moment engaging with local artists, the project's interior design team, the council's heritage team, and community groups to shape Stockroom's early content and ensure it reflects Stockport's identity, creativity, and community voice.
About You
We're looking for someone with experience leading creative or community-based projects, ideally with expertise in digital arts and a strong track record as an artistic leader or senior manager. You'll be confident managing a team and comfortable working at a similar scale.
What's just as important is your ability to build strong relationships. You'll be someone who enjoys working in partnershipwhether that's with artists, community groups, or cultural organisationsand knows how to create meaningful networks that bring people and ideas together.
You'll also understand the realities of public funding and be open to exploring external income opportunities and creative funding models to help sustain the centre into the future.
This is a hands-on role in a dynamic environment, so we're looking for someone flexible and happy to work some evenings and weekends when needed, especially during events or key moments in the programme.
About Us
Stockport is a town of significant potential for lots of reasons but mostly its people and our strong sense of culture and community. This role offers the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the Council's bold regeneration project and shape the creative direction of a brand new and dynamic cultural enterprise in the heart of Stockport Town Centre. Central to this role is the ability to create strong partnerships with our cultural, community and voluntary sector partners who are the key to making this ambition a reality.
