Based at our head offices in Oldbury, you'll be a key member of the finance team and will make a valued contribution to the overall efficiency and performance of the department.

Job Purpose



The Credit Control Manager is responsible for managing the company's credit policies and accounts receivable function to ensure timely collections and minimise bad debt exposure. This role involves overseeing credit assessment, setting credit limits, monitoring outstanding debts, and liaising with customers to resolve account issues. The Credit Control Manager supports the business with accurate debtor reporting and cash flow forecasting and works closely with finance and sales teams to align credit risk with company strategy. The role also includes leading and developing the credit control team.

Responsibilities



Credit Management & Control:



- Oversee the company's credit control policies and ensure adherence across departments.

- Assess creditworthiness of new and existing customers and set appropriate credit limits.

- Monitor debtor balances and proactively manage overdue accounts.

- Liaise with clients to resolve outstanding payment issues and maintain positive relationships.

Debt Recovery & Reporting:



- Initiate and manage collection procedures, including payment reminders, payment plans, and legal recovery processes when necessary.

- Produce regular aged debt reports and debtor analysis for senior management.

- Recommend provisions for doubtful debts and write-offs in accordance with company policy.

Cash Flow & Treasury Support:



- Contribute to cash flow forecasting by providing accurate and timely debtor projections.

- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure sufficient liquidity and optimise working capital.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation:



- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal credit policies.

- Monitor and manage credit risk exposure, proposing mitigation strategies where needed.

- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Leadership & Team Development:



- Lead and develop the credit control team, providing clear objectives, coaching, and performance management.

- Foster a results-oriented and collaborative team culture focused on continuous improvement.

- Conduct regular one-to-ones and annual performance reviews with team members.

Systems & Process Improvement:



- Improve credit control processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

- Support the implementation and optimisation of financial systems, particularly relating to debtor management and reporting (e.g. Dynamics NAV).

- Ensure proper documentation and standard operating procedures are in place for credit operations.

Requirements



- Minimum 2 years' experience in a credit control or management accounting role.

- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is advantageous.

- Proven experience in managing a credit control function or leading a receivables team.

- Higher Education (Level 6 or above) desirable.
