Job Description

SML Group are a well-established service-based organisation, who are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Credit Control Team Leader, to join our growing Finance Department.

In this pivotal role, you will lead and support a team of credit controllers, ensuring efficient and effective credit management processes whilst maintaining strong customer relationships.

The majority of SML Group customer base is with loss adjusters and Insures, so timely debt statements are produced, processed and submitted.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of credit controllers, setting clear targets and monitoring performance. Oversee/assist the collection of outstanding debts in a timely manner and manage escalation of problematic accounts. Work closely with internal departments including sales and finance to resolve disputes and improve cash flow. Produce regular reports on team performance, aged debt, and KPIs for senior management. Implement and enhance credit control policies, ensuring compliance with company procedures and legal requirements. Accurately document all interactions and keep records up to date. Proactively manage overdue accounts, ensuring effective communication with clients to facilitate timely payments. Resolve routine issues independently and escalate more complex cases when necessary.

What We're Looking For:

Proven experience in credit control with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role. Strong knowledge of credit management, collections, and risk assessment. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and xero
