Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our team. The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the credit control process, ensuring timely payments, and minimizing bad debts. You will work closely with the sales team to ensure prompt payment is made and appropriate actions are taken to follow non-payment.
Duties:
Monitor accounts to identify overdue payments
Contact customers to remind them of outstanding debts
Negotiate payment plans with debtors
Update account status records
Report on collection activity and accounts receivable status
Collaborate with the sales team to resolve billing disputes
Investigate and resolve customer queries
Monitor and identify changes in payment patterns to minimise risk
Examine shortfalls with payments, work with customers to understand and rectify these and take necessary steps to prevent future shortfalls.
Review, investigate and resolve queries by liaising with internal and external customers.
Support the onboarding of new customers to include checks with credit reference agencies and governing bodies.
Other ad-hoc duties as required to support all areas of the business.
Qualifications:
It is essential you have;
Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar role
Knowledge of accounting software and financial services
Familiarity with accounts payable procedures
Strong data entry skills and ability to analyse financial data
Excellent phone etiquette for effective communication with customers
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
Excellent relationship building, interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills.
Proactive approach to work supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good IT Skills and experience using systems and Microsoft office, including excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and manage expectations
Positive, polite and professional telephone manner, and a good level of written English.
Awareness of the pre-action protocols for debt claims to enable the business to issue court proceedings.
