The Credit Controller will take ownership of the Credit Control function for a property management company as well as providing administrative support to the accounts team. Responsible for monitoring and chasing outstanding payments of rent and property maintenance charges, liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders and supporting solicitors with documentation required for judgements and possession orders as required.
Main Responsibilities / Duties
Positively promote the company brand and build the company's reputation.
Provide high levels of customer service both internally and externally.
Timely and effective collection of customer payments.
Process payments via debit/credit card and cheque.
Downloading from the software system and collating reports of arrears ready for chasing.
Send out rent reminders as per arrears procedure, refer to lettings manager/ Client as needed.
Send out property maintenance charge reminders as per arrears procedure.
Instruct and liaise with mortgage company/ solicitors and provide documentation as required.
Monitor payments including standing orders, negotiate payment plans and check these are made as agreed.
Generate arrears reports for Clients and Directors.
Check housing benefit payments and contact tenants to advise of changes, liaise with housing department on arrears.
Liaise with relevant internal departments, Directors, Freeholders, Landlords and Leaseholders and Tenants.
Apply charges to accounts.
Chase notice of transfers and update system.
Assist with issuing quarterly demands to leaseholders.
Assist accounts payable team as and when required.
Ensure the accurate and timely recording of data on information systems.
Undertake daily correspondence e.g. letters, emails, telephone calls.
Filing & shredding sensitive documentation,
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the office e.g., covering annual leave, peaks in demand, taking messages on behalf of other departments.
Participate in ensuring general housekeeping standards are maintained e.g. kitchen cleanliness etc.
